10 Simple Ideas to Use Antlers for a Rustic Farmhouse Style

10 Simple Ways to Decorate with Deer Antlers for that Rustic Farmhouse Feel

I love finding ways to add a bit of rustic charm to our farmhouse style. We all love the great outdoors, and so I enjoy adding it to our home in small ways. Antlers are a great way to add a touch of a rustic farmhouse feel to the home but I love when it is done in a minimal simple way. So, today I am sharing 10 of my favorite images.

I recently asked the question on my Instagram page, "does your husband have a say in how you decorate?" Well, in all of almost 19 years of marriage my husband hasn't said to much about decor other than nothing real "flowerly" and as many of you may know, I am not much of a "flowerly" kind of decorator. I do, however, enjoy incorporating elements that I know he loves, and one of those ways is using antlers. We both enjoy the simple country rustic look that they add to our home.

Ways to Decorate with Antlers

You don't have to have a cabin out in the woods or wild west theme going in your home to use antlers as part of your decor. Antlers are incredible versatile and can be used in a variety of ways. Hang them on the wall, place them in a wooden dough bowl, lay them on a coffee table, use them as racks to hold hats or coats, place them around candles, use them in wreaths, mount them on the wall to hang jewelry from or my favorite way, just hang them simply on the wall.

Where to Find Antlers

There is a variety of ways that you can find antlers. Generally, a lot of people I know, hunt. They eat the meat from the deer and save the antlers. However, you don't have to be a hunter in order to get antlers for your home. If you have woods near your home, take a walk mid to late February and look for what is known as the antler sheds. The deer lose their antlers every year in order to grow new ones, so, they will drop off in the woods. We have found several single antlers by simply heading out to look for them. Another place to look is flea markets, in our area I see them quite often and they can range from several dollars to hundreds of dollars depending upon how they are mounted and the size that they are. You can also search online. Etsy and Ebay is probably two of the places that you would find them most often.
