White Farmhouse Cabinet Makeover
Making over an old used and the often forgotten piece of furniture is one of my favorite things to do. I love to watch the transformation happen and this old simple farmhouse style cabinet didn't disappoint.
I was browsing through a site when this cabinet appeared for sale. I checked the measurements, found out it would fit wonderfully in my space and claimed the cabinet for our home.
If I had to guess, I would say the cabinet used to hang in a kitchen. The cabinet needed some serious scrubbing and a new paint job. I reached for one of my favorite white paint colors, White Dove, from the Benjamin Moore collection, then I got busy painting. I didn't bother to take the hinges or the knobs off since they had already been painted over.
The transformation happened quickly and I love how just a simple coat of paint can make such a difference. The inside was painted the same color of white and now holds our collection of board games and school books.
On the top, I layered an old printing tray, some vintage school books, an old advertisement from a newspaper and a spool of twine and a pair of vintage scissors. The basket is thrifted from a local shop and filled with Buckbrush.
Several coats of paints, a few vintage pieces and we have a lovely piece in our home that provides a lot of storage. What do you think? Do you love the transformation?
Looking for another transformation? I recently used a lovely shade of green on a farmhouse style cupboard and I love how it turned out!
