I recently decided to put my original matching dining room chairs into storage, and purchased six vintage, mismatched dining room chairs. I lived with them being brown for quite some time, but on a whim, I decided to go for the rustic black farmhouse look that I really wanted on these dining room chairs. I used some black chalk paint and matte polycrylic to get the look I wanted.
Lilacs are one of the first flowering bushes in our area and I enjoy gathering Lilacs to make arrangements to place in the rooms of our home. I love the look of a topiary but they can be very costly and I am not sure that I can keep one alive inside the home. The space I want to put one doesn’t get a lot of light and I wouldn’t want the plant to die. So, using supplies from the local craft store, I have created a DIY topiary tree with a step by step tutorial.
This Independence Day looks so different for our family. In the 19 years that I have been with my husband, we have always done the same thing. Pack up, head to the creek and spend the afternoon with all of our extended family. The children swim in the creek, and the adults lounge in their chairs, chatting, making multiple trips to the table to snack on foods. The sound of fireworks, kids splashing, and the endless chatter has made for some wonderful memories.
