Small Farmhouse Style Entryway
Our home doesn’t have an official entryway nor do we have a mudroom but with a bit of creativity, I created a small, organized space that is clutter free and welcoming.
Small Front Entryway
With four children and two of us adults in the home, I needed to create a small space for us and our guests to place our belonging when we walked into the home. Our front door opens straight up into the living room. We don’t have a designated space for an entryway but just because we are short on space, that doesn’t mean I can create something that works for our family and guests.
When creating any space in our home, I want it to be functional and beautiful. I like to have clean, organized and clutter free spaces. I always try to keep things very minimal and simple.
How to Create a Small Farmhouse Entryway
Peg Rail: I found our peg rail at a local vintage sale for just a few dollars. It was already painted black and even though it has a slight warp in it, I loved the texture, color and style enough to bring it home. Having a peg rail or wall hooks gives us and our guests a place to hang our hats, coats and bags.
Bench: The bench that I have in this space is actually a piano bench. I purchased it at a flea market and gave it a coat of paint. I also added the boards on the bottom to hold the wooden box. This provides extra storage as does the bench since the top lifts up.
Storage: I knew that we would need a place to hide the winter gloves, ball caps and even our work gloves so I added a vintage wooden crate. The crate came from my sweet mother who has many great vintage pieces.
A plant: I love adding a pop of color by adding in natural elements. This space is a little to dark for a real plant but I brought in the faux topiary that I made, and it was just the right amount of minimal and simple decor.
